You wake on the platform.
The same platform. Again.

You're a rat. It's the middle of the night in the New York subway, and you're stuck in a loop. Every time round, the station looks exactly the same. Almost. Spot what's wrong and you get one step closer to Platform 8, the way out. Miss it, and you're back to zero.

One platform. Eight right calls.

Walk the platform. Look at everything. The sign, the clock, the posters, the man who walks past you every single time. Then decide.

←
Something's off?
Drop onto the tracks and walk back into the tunnel.
→
All normal?
Step onto the Q before the doors close.

Get it wrong and the count goes back to 0. No game over, no death. Just the platform, again.

Can you spot it?

Four real anomalies from the game. Look closely, then tap to reveal.

A handmade banner on the tiled wall of the platform.
The rats' banner should say LONG LIVE THE KING. Tonight it says LONG LIVE WHISKERTON.
The Bodega Cat sitting by the turnstiles.
Count the Bodega Cat's eyes. Cats have two.
Looking up at the commuter in a dark suit on the platform.
The Commuter's tie is crooked. It never is. (Remember to look up.)
Something on the platform floor in front of the rat.
There's always one dropped slice on this platform. Tonight it's a whole pie.

There are 50+ more where those came from. Some are easy. Some you'll only see if you look up.

Anomalies

From the obvious to the ones that'll make you doubt your own eyes: signs, lights, sounds, the train, the cat, and him.

1

The Commuter

One man in a suit walks past you every loop. Learn him by heart. His tie, his shoes, his briefcase hand. Then notice when something's off.

4″

Rat height

The station is enormous from down here. The good stuff is at shoe level, and some of it is up high. Look up.

R62

The real subway

Wet platforms that mirror every light, grimy tile, flickering fluorescents, and a Q train modelled on the real R62.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes. It runs in your browser with nothing to download.

Do I need a crypto wallet?

No. Anyone can play. A Phantom wallet is only needed to post your time to the leaderboard, and signing in is a free message signature, never a transaction.

How long is it?

A first escape takes most people 20–40 minutes. Seeing every anomaly takes a lot longer.

Is it scary?

It's eerie more than gory: empty stations, things that aren't quite right, and a couple of fair jump scares. Sound is off until you turn it on.

Will it work on my phone?

A full mobile version is in progress. For now, play on a desktop or laptop.

Who made this?

NYC Pizza Rat (NYCPR). Pizza Rat has been carrying the last slice through the subway for a while now. This time something is wrong.
